I’m happy to officially announce the release of my new EP, LIGHT FROM BELOW.

"Susan Hawkins’ music demands that you listen – like you listened as a child, wide-eyed at the night. It reflects a deep instinct for the unconscious. Profoundly dreamlike: melodies rise and fade; rhythms merge and submerge.

Rich and evocative, this collection gently opens a world for the listener’s imagination to enter and explore."

 
Today marks a personal turning point and a snapshot of my compositional journey so far.

It also gives me a point from which to move in to the future with a sound that I’m certainly excited about.
 
These tracks have been composed using a combination of sampled sound with a real (and very wonderful!) violinist and bass clarinettist (Benjamin Greaves and Matt Engells). One of the joys of the technology available at the moment is the freedom it has given in approaching a music composition. For me, it’s an opportunity to make sounds that push the boundary of accessibility in new music and still retain the organic beauty of an instrumental performance.
 
I have been very fortunate to work with many talented artists from all over the world, and I wouldn’t be creating this music now without having learned so much from them.
 
To all of you who have supported me and believed in the music I make, thank you.
